星野監督の革命に驚愕

なんといっても1988年の中日ドラゴンズの優勝は感動した。当時の星野監督の熱血指導により

1987年の就任一年目でも2位とまずまずの成績を残し、2年目に優勝を決めたのである。

 

星野監督はかなり選手をシャッフルしたイメージが幼心にあった。

1つ目はなんといっても星野一年目の改革といってもいい落合獲得である。ロッテで3度の

三冠王に輝いたスーパースターを獲得したのである。

 

今のようなFAなどルールが与えられたものではなく、あくまで選手同士による交換トレード

の交渉の末の結果である。

中日はこのトレードで4対1のトレードをしたのである。落合1人に対して4人の選手をロッテに

放出したのである。

 

牛島和彦・上川誠二・平沼定晴・桑田茂の4名であり、牛島は高校時代は浪商で活躍して1979年

に中日にドラフト1位で入団した生え抜きのスター選手であった。

1980年に2勝をあげると、1981年から一軍での頭角をあらわし、はじめは中継ぎとして活躍して

いた。

そして、1982年には鈴木孝政や小松辰雄の後任としてリリーフを任されるようになり、1982年の

優勝には17セーブをあげるなど大きく貢献していた。

牛島はなによりイケメンで、高校野球からのスター選手と言うことも有り人気があった。

 

他の3選手も1軍で出場する中日には必要な選手であったが、星野監督は落合を獲得するために、

4名の選手を放出したのである。

さらに驚愕したのは落合の年俸である。

当時のプロ野球としては初の1億円超えの年俸を手にしたのである。推定年俸では1億3000万円で

このニュースは少年野球の子供達に夢を与えた。

 

野球がうまくなるとお金持ちになれるのを目の当たりにしたのである。

これが星野監督1年目の驚愕の革命である。

 

これらのように星野監督はファンがビックリするような采配を沢山している。そして子供が将来

プロ野球選手になりたいと思える夢を提供してくれるのである。

 

星野監督のサインには大きく「夢」の文字が有り、私も1枚もっている。

 

 

 

星野監督2年目の更なる改革

星野監督は2年目にも更なる改革をした。当時は主力メンバーであった平野謙を西武へ放出したの

である。平野は外野の守備がうまく、打撃面でもシュアなバッティングで高打率をマークし、盗塁

も多数出来るオールラウンドプレーヤーである。

平野もイケメンでとにかく女性の人気が凄かった。

 

そして、落合入団まで4番をずっと打っていたベテランの大島康徳を日本ハムへ放出したのである。

これはロッテから獲得した落合を4番で固定するためベテランの大島にとっては扱いが難しくなる

こともあることと、年齢を重ね力が少しずつ衰えてきたことが理由と考えられる。

 

また、起用法でもビックリするような改革が行われていた。

1つ目は1988年にドラフト1位で入団した高卒の立浪をいきなり開幕からスタメンで起用したのである。

立浪は高卒なので10代で2番ショートの開幕スタメンを手にした。

当時の中日のショートには宇野勝がいた。珍プレー好プレーで有名な選手ではあるが、決して守備が

うまくない訳では無い。

1987年にはショートでベストナインも獲得していたのである。

そんな宇野を星野監督は2塁にコンバートしたのである。プロ野球での実績が全く無い高校を卒業した

ばかりの立浪のためにショートをあけたのである。

 

更に故障がちであった中尾孝義を捕手から外野手へコンバートしたのである。中尾は1982年の優勝時の

主力メンバーであり、捕手として初めてシーズンMVPを獲得した選手である。

 

そんな中尾を外野にコンバートして、中村武志を正捕手で起用したのである。中村と言えば星野監督の

鉄拳制裁をうける代表的な選手で有り、サンドバック状態というか常に殴られているイメージある。

星野監督にとって鉄拳とは愛情であり、鉄拳をした選手は起用するのである。

 

これらのように単に目先の勝利を目指すのではなく、チームとしてのスター育成をしているのである。

 

本来、監督の契約はチーム成績に応じて短期で終了する可能性があるため、常にチームの勝率を上げる

采配をするべきではあるのだが、星野監督は思い切った起用をすることで選手の成長をファンと一緒に

見届けることで新たなスターを育成してきたのである。

 

 

 

星野2年目　1988年の感動的な優勝

選手を積極的に獲得し、調子のよくない選手は放出やコンバートをすることで強いチームを作り上げ、

たったの2年で優勝という結果を残した。

1986年オフ、39歳という若さで監督に就任した星野監督には勢いがあった。

「こんなぬるま湯に浸かっているとドラゴンズはダメになる」という一心で様々な革命をしたらしい。

 

この思いは中日ファンにも十分伝わっていた。

とにかく巨人だけには負けないとう気持ちが凄かったのを覚えている。

 

1988年はリーグ優勝のみで、日本シリーズでは惜しくも西武ライオンズに負けてしまった。

しかし、私の中で一番印象に残っている中日の優勝は1988年である。

 

1988年といえば、現在のプロ野球での代表的な世代であり、「88世代」と呼ばれている素晴らしい選手が

沢山いる。

田中将大、前田健太、柳田悠岐、秋山翔吾、宮崎敏郎、大野雄大、堂上直倫など数え切れないほど、世界

中で活躍している選手がいる。

これらの選手は中日が優勝した1988年生まれなのである。

あの熱狂的な感動を与えてくれた中日の優勝の時代に生まれた選手はこれからも頑張って欲しい。

 

確かに1988年はプロ野球にっとって大きな年である。愛知県人、中日ファンにとっても1988年の優勝は

とても印象的であった。これは単に野球で優勝したという話では無く、星野監督が巨人を目の敵にして

「勝ちたいんや！」という妥当巨人というスローガンのもと、地方都市である名古屋のチームが気合いで
