中日ドラゴンズの若手が優秀な理由
落合監督が仏教大学の大野を一本釣り
2010年のドラフトは衝撃だった。この年は早稲田大学のハンカチ王子など3名が話題になり、
大石達也、斎藤佑樹、福井優也が同一チームから3投手が1位指名を受けることとなった。
大石は6球団、斎藤は4球団の競合となった。そのためこの年に単独指名をしたのはたったの
2球団しかいかいのである。
早稲田トリオ
1つは巨人の澤村である。中央大学で活躍をして2年の秋には球速が150ｋｍを超えるように
なっていた。メジャーの球団から複数オファーもあったようだ。
巨人と言えば同じ中央大学出身の阿部慎之助・亀井義行などのスター選手がいたこともあり
パイプが有り相思相愛とスポーツ新聞で言われていた。

後日談ではあるが、巨人以外から指名された場合はアメリカでのプロ入りの可能性があった
とのことである。
そしてもう1つが中日がドラフト1位指名をした大野雄大である。
実は中日は澤村を狙っていたらしい。しかし、巨人と相思相愛とうことで、入団拒否のリスク
を考慮してドラフト当日のスカウト会議で澤村指名を見送ったとのことである。
そして指名したのが大野である。
この年は大学ドラフト1位が豊作であり、早稲田大学や中央大学など名門校が1位をしめていたが
大野雄大の大学は仏教大学とあまり聞き慣れない学校であった。

大野は高校時代は3年の春に一度甲子園出場を果たしたが、初戦で東海大相模に敗れた。
大学時代で凄い実績を4年間残したのかと思いきや、2年時では試合はもちろんのこと練習も半年
出来ない状態があったらしい。
理由は単位が足らず、仏教大学のルールで半年間の禁止期間があったようだ。
このような状況にもかかわらず、4年になるときに全日本大学選手権大会での活躍がみとめられた。
そして、大学左腕NO.1と称され、斎藤佑樹、大石達也、澤村拓一とともに「大学球界BIG4」
と言われてドラフトで注目される選手になったのである。
しかし、当時のドラフトでは中日の落合監督の判断に衝撃を受けた。
チームは強くなってきているが観客動員数が伸び悩む問題を抱えている中日には話題性を考慮し
して、早稲田大学のハンカチ王子を獲るべきを私は考えていたからだ。

あれから10年、結果として一軍の同じチームに残っているのはBIG4といわれた4名では大野雄大
たったの一人である。
更に大野は今オフにはFAの目玉として注目が集まっているほどである。
大野の努力もあるが、落合監督の判断は素晴らしいものがあった。
大野は今季は途中から快進撃を続けている。とにかく完投、完封が多いことで単に勝利数が多い
というよりもチームへの貢献度が大きい。中継ぎ投手を休ませることができることは今シーズン
のスケジュールを踏まえると価値が例年よりも高いはずである。
地元出身のスター候補
愛知県は地元愛が強い方だと思う。私も愛知県出身であり、東京に出てきて20年以上たつが、
なんだかんだ言って愛知県出身となると応援をしてしまう。
中日ドラゴンズで言えば、愛知・三重・岐阜といった東海三県が地元といえるだろう。
愛知県出身のプロ野球のスター選手と言えばイチローがあげられる。
愛工大名電高校で活躍したのだがオリックスにドラフト4位で入団して活躍した。何故、中日は
イチローを獲らなかったのかと言う声がいまだにあるほどだ。

私もそうだが、愛知県にいれば中日ファンが圧倒的に多い。自分の好きなチームでプレーできる
ことは力になるはずである。
2018年のドラフト1位の根尾は大阪桐蔭高校であるが出身は岐阜県である。

2019年のドラフトでは1位の石川は愛知県の東邦高校出身であり、根尾と同じく甲子園で優勝した
スター候補選手である。

更に、2019年のドラフト5位の岡林はセンス抜群で数年後の活躍が期待できる。
岡林は甲子園出場はないものの、投手・野手どちらも優れた選手で有り、入団前は二刀流も噂され
ていたほどである。

2020年シーズンで根尾・石川・岡林ともに1軍を経験して未来のポテンシャルの高さを示してくれた。
1988年に星野監督が1年目から立浪を使い続けたように、もっともっと1軍での経験を積ませて欲しい
というファンが沢山いる。

2019年まで7年連続Bクラスと低迷しているチームにとって若手を育てることは必須である。
同時に中日は観客動員の確保もするためにファンが喜ぶチーム作りもする必要がある。
これは地元出身のスター選手がでることで一気に解消ができると思う。
中日ドラゴンズの若手が優秀な理由としてはドラフトで与田監督が2年連続地元のスター候補を
引き当てたことが大きい。若手の底上げが何よりもチームレベルの向上につながる。
若手で地元から期待されて入る選手は注目されない選手と比べるまでも無くモチベーションが
常に高いところでキープでき、活躍したときのファンの声援などきっかけ一つで大きく羽ばた
きやすい環境になるのである。
2019年の育成で名古屋大学出身の松田亘哲
2019年のドラフトで話題となった選手と言えば、育成契約した松田亘哲である。
なんと名古屋大学経済学部に現役合格しているのである。名古屋大学といえば国立大学で愛知県では
偏差値が一番高い難易度の高い大学である。

愛知県には豊田などの大企業が有り、就職を考慮して東大にいくよりも地元の名古屋大学に行く人が
多いのは有名な話である。
要は頑張れば東大いけるレベルの頭脳をもった選手が中日の育成で入団したのである。
選手としても1軍にあがって活躍をしてほしいが、それよりも選手だけではなく多くの視野で経験を
積んで将来は中日の経営に関わって欲しいと思う。
同期入団の石川が監督して中日のオーナーが松田なんてことがあるかもしれない。
