ドラ4福島の中学の先輩とは

人口約3万人の、のどかな風景が広がる街。「右利きに変えたほうがいいのかな」。左利きへの抵抗が一瞬だけ頭をよぎり、夫の一生さん(43)に相談した。「自然のままに、このまま育てよう」。あるがままを優先した。
　器用に育った。左手でそろばんの玉を弾き、右手でペンを握る。左手でも文字を書けるが、習字は止め、跳ねがあるから右手。必要に応じて両手を使い分けた。
　もしかしたら、サッカー少年になっていたかもしれない。「大好き」(福島)という3歳上の兄・啓太さん(21)は幼少期、野球よりもサッカーを好んだ。野球へといざなったのは野球アニメの「メジャー」。野球を選んでほしい明子さんによる、リモコンを使ったちょっとした操作だった。
　「(岡山・倉敷工高野球部出身の)夫が社会人でも野球を続けていました。子どもには野球をやらせた方がいいのかな、という気持ちがありました」。アニメの影響も手伝い、啓太さんは野球を選んだ。福島も弟・貫太さん(16)も自然と野球のボールを握った。
　備前中では瀬戸内ボーイズに所属した。「とにかく食べさせられました」と福島。昼食は白米2合。練習日でなくても白米をかき込んだ。量は苦にならない。父と同じ「倉工」へ進んでからは「何を食べるかを考えました」。タンパク質や脂質、食材を考え176センチ、88キロの体をつくりあげた。
　出身の備前中からは直近の5年間で3人が球界の門をたたいている。2017年はオリックス・山本由伸、19年は同・頓宮裕真。そして、福島。頓宮のプロ入り時は激励会に出席した。同じ投手の山本には憧れを抱く。

  • Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
    and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the
    shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
    She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had
    to tell someone!
